The IT sector may offer something of a safe haven for graduates, as the majority of skilled IT professionals feel relatively unaffected by the current economic climate, according to new research.
A new study by InterQuest Group has revealed that just nine per cent of IT contractors feel there is any cause for concern in terms of the economy, while over half are not worried at all, reports Recruiter
Senior staff also appear to be unruffled, with only 12 cent of contractors stating that their superiors seemed to be worried, while nearly a third said management were not at all concerned.
Gary Ashworth, chairman at InterQuest, commented: "Some people seem intent on almost talking us into recession and that's obviously spooking some people. However, the truth of the matter is that there is still strong demand for skilled IT contractors in the UK."
He added that, unlike the dot.com crisis which hit the industry in 2001, the IT industry is intrinsic to "every successful blue-chip business".
