Graduates hoping to get their teeth into roles within the IT sector need to be confident in their approach to new technology, sector experts have argued.
Dispensing words of advice for graduates looking to step into the world of information, the IT Graduate Job Board has also urged prospective candidates to embrace teamwork as part of their potential IT career.
Ray Duggins, at the IT Graduate Job Board said: "The IT sector is a great place to carve out a career and, with the industry facing its worst skills shortage in years, graduates will be in high demand."
He added: "Knowing within what area to apply your talents will be key to avoiding a career cul-de-sac."
Meanwhile, Ucas figures show that there could be a 40 per cent decline in the number of IT graduates by 2009 - something which is causing alarm within the sector.
The British Computer Society claims that such a dearth in talent may have serious consequences for the UK economy.
