Recent university leavers looking for graduate jobs in science, engineering and IT may be interested to hear that a new report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) indicates there is a large number of skilled IT graduates in the market.
The body says that this is good news for recruiters, as they have access to a wealth of possible employees, and that, essentially, these individuals have the perfect skills needed to tackle emerging systems.
Jeff Brooks, chair of the REC's technology group, said: "It is encouraging to see this growth in demand. Our members are showing increasing confidence in the sector and many of them are looking to hire more recruiters as a result.
"It is very encouraging to see that companies will still invest in technology to develop their businesses even when there is a tough economic landscape."
In the report it claimed that this will mean that businesses can find IT workers easily and it allow recruitment agencies to facilitate placements quicker. It identified key skills which have increased in demand as those relating to SQL, .Net and Linux.
