Irish firm could create graduate placements

Those looking for graduate placements might find that Paddy Power's latest expansion plans have something to offer them.

The Irish firm has announced that it will create 1,440 new positions across three of its main markets.

While 500 roles will be created in Ireland, mostly in the Tallaght area of Dublin, 800 will be given to UK workers.

The remainder will benefit the Australian jobs market, with the betting company looking to increase its presence in each of the markets after a good start to 2010.

"The strong growth in group profitability in the first six months has continued into the second half, with a particularly strong performance in our international online businesses and UK Retail activities," explained chief executive Patrick Kennedy.

The expansion will take the firm's total employment figures in Ireland to 2,200 and comes at a time when the Irish economy is at risk of needing to be bailed out by the European Union.
