Ireland postgraduates get training scheme

Published: Thursday, 19 November 2009   Category: Postgraduate Study

Students currently on technology postgraduate courses in Ireland will receive jobs training to boost their employability.

The Institute of Technology Research Alliance's (ITRA) new scheme offers courses to gain accredited certificates and diplomas while graduate job hunters finish their further study.

Research skills such as project management and data handling and collection methods will be the focus of the training, although additional courses are available, according to the Irish Times.

Dr John Bartlett, who is based at the Sligo department of the ITRA, told the newspaper that previous participants in the scheme have increased their marketability in the graduate jobs sector with the transferable skills gained.

The Welsh government recently announced the Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarship, while will give those having trouble finding a graduate job in the current climate an incentive to take up further study to improve their employability, the BBC reported.
