Those looking for graduate jobs should work on their interview skills, according to one former student.
Holly Stagg achieved a 2:1 degree at Sussex University but had to undertake 51 interviews before being offered a paid job, reports Personnel Today.
Ms Stagg put her lack of success down to the fact that she had not been adequately prepared for finding a job while undertaking her studies.
Speaking to the news provider, she said: "I ended up going to interview after interview just to be told I didn't have the interview skills."
If they feel they need extra training in this area, graduates should not hesitate to seek it out, she added.
Writing in the Times yesterday, Jeff Goodman, director of the careers service at the University of Bristol, urged people to think about their career aims when apply for graduate jobs.
People should make sure they do something that interested them, he stated.
