Internships offered by fellow graduate
Monday, 13 July 2009
A fellow graduate is giving today's university leavers a helping hand in the current conditions by matching them with businesses for three-month internships.
Andy Shovel, a 22-year-old Nottingham University graduate, said that he wants to help people like himself find work by giving them the chance at showing employers their skills for the 12-week period.
According to the Daily Express, former student Nick Sawes, who has taken up the scheme, is confident that his internship with Greengage Lighting will end up with a permanent graduate job.
He told the newspaper: "I was more than happy to take up an internship as it is the perfect way to show what I can do, and it's a very positive way to try out for the job you really want."
Chris Morall, managing director of HR coaching firm of Talent Transitions, recently said that graduate internships are beneficial for improving employability skills and adding value to a CV.
