Insurer to expand operations
Thursday, 11 June 2009
Insurance firm Hastings Direct has announced it is creating an additional 150 positions, which could include graduate jobs.
The firm, which said it was recruiting a similar number of people only last month, is expanding operations after being acquired from the Insurance Australia Group.
It is planning to build three pilot high street stores among its expansion plans, which could provide opportunities for people looking for graduate jobs in the retail sector.
Edward Fitzmaurice, chief executive of Hastings Direct, said he was proud the firm was bucking the "all too common" trend of redundancies and freezes on recruitment that have occurred due to the recession.
He added: "2009 has started off as a great year for us, particularly in light of the difficult economic climate. Our recent augmentation has meant we need additional people to help grow the business and take Hastings Direct to the next level."
UK-based broker group Execution recently announced it was planning to triple its headcount, which could include a number of graduate jobs.
It is aiming to increase employee count from 120 to 300 in its corporate banking and advisory services department, the Financial Times reported.
