Increase in digital recruiting

Published: Thursday, 21 February 2008   Category: Graduate Job sector Reports

Recent years have seen a substantial increased in digital recruiting with both applicants and employers making greater use of the technology.

Data taken from the National Online Recruitment Audience has shown that around 56 per cent of job hunters in the UK managed to find their current job by using an online recruitment application, as opposed to just 44 per cent in 2004, reports Onrec.

Commenting on the increasingly important role of such technology, Matt Martone, manager of media sales strategy at Yahoo! HotJobs points out: "[Two years ago] it was uncommon for an employer to consider blogging for recruitment. Today employers are seeking out all the information they can on blogging and social media as they prepare to attempt to engage millennials."

The steady rise of social media within the area has highlighted the "hidden job market," according to regional manager at Career Management Consultants Limited Keith Busfield.

He maintained that the importance of networking for both employer and potential employee will become increasingly important.
