HSBC launches networking website for graduate recruits

Published: Wednesday, 24 June 2009   Category: Employer News

Graduates working for the financial firm HSBC will now have the opportunity to make contacts before they start their job, thanks to a new networking site.

Acting as a "green room", the service will allow new recruits to graduate jobs at the bank to introduce themselves to current employees and become acquainted with the business as a whole, according to People Management.

Those taking up graduate jobs, as well as previous interns who have left the company to carry on university studies, can post information about their experiences and find other prospective workers in their local area.

John Morewood, senior graduate recruitment and development manager at HSBC, told the news provider: "The green room started as a way of keeping them updated on how the organisation is doing, and giving information about the scheme, but soon became a social networking area too."

Ashley Hever, human resources manager for Europe at Enterprise Rent-a-Car, recently reminded all firms of the importance of making sure new graduate recruits are fully integrated into their business at a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development forum.
