Graduate Job sector Reports
Salaries for human resources professionals have seen a substantial increase with the average salary for a manager now standing at around £43,000.
The survey by recruitment firm Reed Human Resources shows that salaries rose by 11 per cent last year which is significantly more than the rate of inflation, Personneltoday reports.
The figures show a nine per cent wage increase for an HR assistant bringing their average annual salary to £21,396, while an HR officer can now expect earnings of around £27,157.
According to the survey, the sector has seen a major skills shortage in the past year which has resulted in a 65 per cent increase in vacancies since 2006.
Jason Willis, Reed's operations manager, said: "As the skills shortage continues, we will continue to see an increase in the deployment of interim managers to meet this need."
He predicted that the current discrepancy between supply and demand would see further salary increases across the sector.
Elsewhere, Personneltoday reports that MPs have accepted a below inflation pay rise of 1.9 per cent without a vote.
