Graduate recruitment in the hotel and hospitality sector should not be overly affected by the credit crunch, according to one industry expert.
Paula Rogers, managing director at hospitality staffing firm Admiral, claims that a recession does will not necessarily bring about a tail-off in business within the sector, reports Recruiter.
She was commenting after hotel chain Travelodge announced plans to create 450 new jobs by opening 22 new hotels around the UK in the lead-up to Christmas.
Commenting on the plan, Ms Rogers said it was "brilliant" that the firm was continuing with its plans despite financial pressures facing many businesses in the current economic climate.
She added: "I think it is a message to say it is business as usual. People will still need to stay in hotels for business and pleasure. The world is not coming to a standstill."
Travelodge currently owns 350 hotels in the UK, but aims to increase this number to 1,000 by 2020, meaning further careers opportunities for graduates could arise in due course.
