Businesses can ensure that sick or injured employees can return to work promptly by providing health insurance for their staff, it has been claimed.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has asserted that if people have private medical treatment than they can receive help quickly and return to work sooner.
A spokesperson for the organisation Jonathan French said that these people are more "economically productive" than they would be without the medical insurance.
"The value of private medical insurance is seen not just in terms of a simple perk for employees it is seen very much as a business management tool," he stated, adding that it is "a win, win situation".
Evidence from the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work for in the UK list shows that companies who have higher levels of staff engagement, such as employee wellbeing and team working, have less than half the sickness absence of the UK as a whole.
