The Annual Salary and Benefits Survey, conducted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), suggests that 78 per cent of sector employees are happy in their work.
In addition the average basic salary across the sector is £23,752 - including typical figures for commission the amount can rise to more than £32,000.
Commenting on the finding, Roger Tweedy at the REC said: "This year's results show that working in recruitment has become an attractive option for many seeking a career in a successful, vibrant and increasingly self-confident industry.
He added: "Recruiters these days are increasingly well qualified with over a third holding a degree and a further one in ten holding a post-graduate qualification."
According to the study the most successful recruiters can earn in excess of £100,000 including commission.
