Graduates told to be positive

Published: Friday, 13 March 2009   Category: Career Advice

Those looking for graduate jobs have been advised by a graduate recruitment careers management expert to keep positive during the recession, as there are companies still employing.

Chris Morrall, speaking at the National Graduate Recruitment Fair in London last week, said: "If you think there are no jobs out there, there won't be any jobs out there for you."

He also told applicants with an interview to research the company right up until the last minute, while if the interviewer's name is known, doing a Google search for information is advised.

Candidates should also clean up their Facebook accounts and make sure they get a good night's sleep beforehand.

According to an outlook report by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and accountancy firm KPMG, over a third of businesses are planning to maintain employee levels and over a quarter are planning to recruit over the coming year.
