Graduates to find work in East Midlands
Monday, 17 August 2009
A new programme launched in the East Midlands area of Bolsover will see various graduates take up positions at local firms for a temporary period.
Those looking to get some work experience to add to their graduate job CV may be interested in the scheme, which is organised by Bolsover District Council and recruitment service Hot Prospects, Chad.co.uk reports.
The initiative involves council funding going towards employers' costs of recruiting a graduate through the service, allowing university leavers to take up jobs at a wide variety of firms.
Wes Lumley, chief executive of Bolsover District Council, told the newspaper: "Recruitment costs associated with employing a graduate can often be prohibitive, so by funding these costs for an initial work placement we hope that many more businesses will benefit from tapping into this graduate resource."
Minister for skills David Lammy recently addressed a crowd of employers about the benefits they can reap from providing graduate internships at an East of England Development Agency-organised event in St Albans, Business Weekly reported.
