Graduate job hunters have been handed a boost by the news that 82 per cent of European companies are planning to hire employees to new positions, according to a survey by Towers Watson.
The global professional services company entered into dialogue with 131 mostly large employers across Europe and 459 firms globally to come to the conclusion that the jobs picture is slowly improving, RecruitmentToday reports.
But Laura Sejen, global rewards and practice leader at Towers Watson, warned there were still challenges ahead.
She told the website: "Without question, the last 18 months have been challenging for employers and employees alike, and while there are signs of improvement it's clear we're not going back to 'business as usual' anytime soon.
"As always the question is how lean can companies run - especially as demand for products and services rises? Those slow to reinvest in their workforce could find themselves at a competitive disadvantage."
Last week, the 13th annual PricewaterhouseCoopers poll showed that 42 per cent of CEOs plan to increase their headcount in the next 12 months.
