Banking and Finance
Recent university leavers looking for graduate jobs in banking and finance may be interested to hear that banking firm HSBC has told graduates they need to combine practical skills with academic qualifications.
A recent Targretjobs survey put HSBC as the financial institution that graduates would most like to work for so they are in a strong position to advise graduates on the best course of action, the Recruiter reports.
In an interview with the website a spokesperson for the bank said: "From a graduate perspective, it's about employability.
"Academic qualifications are the ticket to the game, but to play, the successful graduate needs to have some practical skills, the confidence to speak out when required and a fit with the organisational values."
HSBC are one of a number of big banks that offer graduate recruitment placements for students fresh out of university, and since the economy in Britain recovered there are such to be more positions on offer.
