Graduates rate SMEs as top for job satisfaction

Published: Friday, 03 June 2011   Category: All Graduate job news

Most university-leavers rate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as being better for finding graduate opportunities with high levels of job satisfaction and creativity.

That is according to a survey carried out by graduate organisation Give A Grad A Go, which found that 82 per cent of those asked said they would be happier in their jobs at an SME.

However, 91 per cent of graduates believe that larger firms can provide better pay, as well as job security (79 per cent) and career progression (with 73 per cent agreeing with this).

Cary Curtis, founder of the company, expressed the opinion that small and medium sized firms are very important for the UK economy.

"SMEs make up the backbone of British industry and will need to take advantage of the abundance of highly skilled graduates leaving university looking for work," he said.

"Graduates that approach us are often unaware of the fantastic career opportunities that exist in SME organisations and certainly have no idea how to take advantage of them."
