Food and drink
Recent university leavers looking for graduate jobs in food and drink may be interested to hear the view of a careers expert who said that graduates and all jobseekers need to ensure they have the right skills to stand out in the job market.
Farhan Yasin, president EMEA of CareerBuilder.com, said that a lot of people in the 16 to 24 age group are going back to school to gain new skills in markets and as such this is reflecting badly on employment rates.
He added: "My belief is that there is a disparity between the skills necessary to gain employment in a lot of these emerging sectors of the UK economy, and the skills that the labour force here in the UK has.
"We need to start re-educating our workforce in areas that there are going to be long-term employment opportunities for."
His comments come in the wake of new figures show the number of people unemployed in the UK rose by 43,000 to 2.5 million during the three months to February.
