Graduates move to online sources for recruitment

Published: Tuesday, 13 April 2010   Category: Business Management

Recent university leavers looking for graduate jobs in business management may be interested to hear that online recruitment increased last month, according to new data from the Monster Employment Index.

It found that the number of job vacancies advertised online increased by two points to a reading of 126 in March, where 100 is the baseline.

The analysis, taken from job boards and corporate careers sites showed that marketing, PR and media led all sectors in monthly growth, while entertainment, sports and leisure sectors reported the highest year-on-year rise, Personnel Today reports.

Jonathan Der, economic researcher at Monster Worldwide, told the magazine: "The development was very marginal.

"The index [for HR] was basically at the same level as it was in February, and if you look at the long-term growth trend, showing a 32 per cent rise year-on-year, HR is significantly better than it was a year ago."
