Recent university leavers looking for graduate jobs in sales and recruitment may be interested to hear that the number of people being placed in permanent jobs in the UK rose in March at its fastest rate since October 1997.
A new survey by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG, as part of its monthly report on jobs, also showed that temporary staff placements rose at their highest rate in nearly three years.
The firms' permanent placements index rose to 65.2 from 63.2 in February, while the temporary placements index rose from 57.9 to 60.9, which was a 33-month high.
Bernard Brown, partner at KPMG, said: "The UK jobs market seems to be going from strength to strength, with permanent job placements growing at the fastest rate for 12 years.
"These figures show that private sector confidence is returning and that the UK is existing recession at a pace."
With the general election now set for May 6th, all the main political parties will be keen to share their plans for employment.
