NACUE has re-launched its Varsity Pitch competition, giving young entrepreneurs the opportunity to win £10,000 to develop their business idea.

Young entrepreneurs across the UK will be able to pitch to an audience of investors and the press, if they prove successful through the application process, which involves three stages.

Running for its sixth year, Varsity Pitch looks to unearth the best ideas and concepts that have come out of colleges and universities. Anyone who has graduated after 2011 or that is current student is allowed to apply for the competition.

The competition will incorporate three stages, including an online public vote, a boot camp with a line-up of successful mentors and a grand final with those attending from the media, government, corporate and start-up world.

In order to make it into the competition, entrepreneurs will have to submit a pitch lasting a minute which will then be put to the public vote – the applicant with the most votes on their profile will be fast-tracked straight to the grand final.

Biggest competition for students

For students and graduates, the NAUCUE Varsity Pitch is the UK’s biggest business competition, which attracts the most innovative start-ups coming out of university and in some cases college campuses.

The final will take place on the 19 November. After the eight finalists have been put through extensive enterprise training in the semi-final, they then have two minutes to pitch for their chance to win £10,000.

The competition partners with business giants such as Microsoft, Lloyds Banking Group and TATA, as well as the University of Westminster.

Entries will get the chance to choose the categories that they wish to enter, which includes TATA Disruptive, TATA Social Impact, Genuine Innovation with Microsoft, Creative & Design, Digital and Technical, Ideas with University of Westminster and People’s Vote with Lloyds Banking Group.
