Graduates could benefit from advertising upturn

Recent university leavers looking for the latest graduate jobs and courses may be interested to hear that the Advertising Association (AA) and Warc have claimed that the UK advertising industry is on the way to recovery and will experience robust growth in 2010.
They expect modest industry-wide growth in the first quarter but anticipate that quarter two will show a healthy year-on-year growth of 3.6 per cent, which could open up a surfeit of graduate job opportunities in media.
Eva Berg-Winters, senior manager and new media specialist at PricewaterhouseCoppers, said that the increase in marketing spend could mean that the industry is completely in the clear.
She added: "Yes, 2010 is going to be a much better year than 2009, but it has of course started from a much lower base.
"Showing growth from quite a low level is not as big an achievement as showing growth, in say 2007, but I think we have seen the low point now and while recovery is still very shaky thus year, it will be easier than last year."
