Graduates should be able to capitalise in the next few months as companies increasingly aim to ramp up their recruitment drives, it was suggested yesterday (May 26th).
Lisette Howlett, managing director and founder of recruitment agency resource HireScores.com, explained that the UK's emergence from recession is gradually being reflected in job vacancies.
However, she also warned that university leavers will find that competition for roles in a number of sectors, such as housing and manufacturing, is still particularly fierce.
She said: "As things start to ease in the economy more people will also be looking to move on and this creates a knock-on effect.
"It is likely that employers will be quite selective with who they hire which will make competition for jobs remain tough."
Ms Howlett was speaking after a Confederation of British Industry report revealed earlier this week that just six per cent of UK companies currently have a recruitment freeze in place.
Meanwhile, Sonja Stockton, head of recruitment at PricewaterhouseCoopers, told the Independent this week that the company is seeking graduate applicants from all educational backgrounds.
