Graduates advised on job seeking
Thursday, 19 July 2007
Graduates looking at taking their first foray into the world of work have been given some timely words of advice.
Suzanne Cameron, senior commercial consultant from Carlton Resource Solutions, suggests a number of ways in which graduates can make their recruitment process more successful.
According to Ms Cameron, if you focus your job search into the sectors you wish to work, research your opportunities thoroughly, have your CV in good working order and remain pro-active, the job success is probable.
She told website onrec.com: "Very often, once someone has finished school, college or university, they find themselves uncertain about which direction they want to take. The real world of work can be a challenge, so by setting sensible expectations and recognising that they will probably have to start at the bottom and work their way up is important."
She added: "First time job seekers should be pro-active, persistent and confident that there is a job out there for them."
Research by the Higher Education Statistics Agency has shown that only four per cent of employed graduates had chosen to work abroad.
