Graduate work experience roles can 'bring fresh ideas' to businesses

Published: Thursday, 07 April 2011   Category: Work Experience

People in graduate work experience jobs can "bring fresh ideas" to businesses to help them grow, according to the Bright Ideas Trust.

Tim Campbell, founder of the mentoring network, added that work experience with small employers can be just as valuable to graduates as roles with large, prestigious organisations.

"There's no reason that apprentices and interns can't bring fresh ideas to their businesses and help them move forward with their intentions to grow," he said.

"Apprenticeships in small businesses can be just as valuable as those with larger enterprises and our country's small businesses certainly have a responsibility to make these options available where possible."

The government this week announced the Whitehall Internship Programme, which will take steps to ensure work experience and internships were available to people of all backgrounds.

As well as founding the Bright Ideas trust, Tim Campbell is the training ambassador to London mayor Boris Johnson.
