University-leavers looking for graduate opportunities could apply for some of the jobs being advertised by a UK airline.

Virgin Atlantic announced it is to create around 450 new jobs over the next two years, some of which may be coming from its graduate scheme.

The air-carrier, which is one of the biggest in the country, said the jobs include 350 members of cabin staff and 50 new pilots.

Corneel Koster, director of operations, safety and security for Virgin Atlantic, said that the airline is also announcing new flights and a fleet of 10 new aircraft to coincide with the job creation.

"We have enjoyed a good year of recovery and can now look forward to expanding our network and welcoming a new fleet of aircraft," he said.

"With the increases in flight rotations from our London airports and the new Las Vegas flight from Manchester, we will be creating jobs in both of these areas."

Virgin Atlantic currently operates out of London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports, servicing 35 destinations around the world.
