Graduate schemes 'doubled this year' at _space group

Published: Friday, 05 November 2010   Category: Creative Industries: arts and design

A design build and operation firm has filled twice as many graduate placements as usual this year, it emerged today (November 5th).

_space group has put its budding architects to work at its offices in the north-east, north-west and Yorkshire after taking them on from university, nebusiness.co.uk reports.

They will be participating in live projects with senior figures within the company, while also receiving tailored seminars to inform them about areas such as practice management and legislation.

Diane Charlton, _space group's talent manager, explained that training the new recruits is at the "very core" of the firm's principles.

"Every year we look forward to welcoming the latest fresh young talent the UK has to offer and we have some excellent recruits this year," she told the news provider.

"Our graduate programme also creates fantastic career opportunities. Some of our past training programme recruits have come back to work with us as qualified architects and have become respected in the industry."

Meanwhile, law firm DWF revealed recently that 16 of the 18 graduates it recruited on training contracts two years ago have now accepted full-time jobs.
