Graduate scheme to provide jobs for Travelodge?

Published: Friday, 21 January 2011   Category: Sport, leisure and hospitality

A nationwide hotel accommodation company is to create 700 new positions, which may include intake from its graduate scheme.

Travelodge has announced it is to create the jobs through the building of 35 new premises.

Guy Parsons, chief executive of Travelodge, said the chain was intending to expand despite the economic downturn.

"The hotels we will build this year have been a result of Travelodge's commitment to expand during the recession whilst many companies put development on hold," he said.

The budget hotel company's graduate scheme is for management positions. The 12-week long course fast-tracks its successful applicants to a management role in six to nine months.

People who complete the graduate scheme, which is open for application at the start of every year, can expect an annual salary of around £18,000.

Last month, the hotel company became the first in the UK to an electronic charity box, so people could donate if paying by card.
