Graduate scheme helps university-leaver to find employment

Published: Friday, 17 December 2010   Category: Employer News

A university-leader who took part in a Welsh graduate scheme to help her find a job has landed a top role in a language company.

Elfie Burgess, now 26, was given a job at Veritas Language Solutions thanks to her enrolment in the Go Wales scheme and now - six months later - has been made assistant director.

Go Wales is a scheme which organises work experience and training with companies in Wales for graduates who may be struggling to find work.

The scheme managed by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and is delivered by University Careers Services in Wales.

Just under 500 students and graduates secured paid GO Wales work placements with businesses in Wales and 59 per cent of graduates who were given placements were then offered full time jobs.

The project aims to provide almost 4,000 students and graduates with training and development opportunities between 2009 and 2011.
