Graduate recruitment gains turnover for firm
Tuesday, 18 August 2009
A graduate employer in Cornwall has seen its incomings increase three-fold since taking on a degree-holder from a nearby university.
Nicky Dines, a business graduate from Cornwall College, has helped environmental hygiene specialists QES by adding fresh talent to its mix of staff through a scheme called Unlocking Cornish Potential.
According to Business Cornwall, the initiative aims to help university leavers gain work experience to increase their graduate job prospects and QES has decided to keep Ms Dines at the company thanks to the positive impact she has had.
Mike Quest, managing director of QES, told the newspaper: "Before we took Nicky on, we had lost a large contract and thought we could be facing our last year in business. But now we are realising our full growth potential and this is only possible because of the systems she has put in place."
bdaily recently reported that graduate employer SMC Pharma in the north-east has added new skills to its workforce by taking on a degree-holder from Northumbria University.
