Graduate opportunities in accountancy offer a 'very attractive starting salary'

Published: Thursday, 17 February 2011   Category: Banking and Finance

People who are soon to leave university and are looking for graduate trainee jobs in the accountancy sector may be pleased to know that there are "very attractive starting salaries for graduates".

Robert Jelly, executive director of the educational arm of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), said that the sector also offers very well paid graduate schemes.

Mr Jelly emphasised the benefits of taking an accountancy degree, including the decent wage and the number of graduate roles across the world.

"A growing number of students are seeing a qualification as one that is attractive, particularly [with] the job opportunities that are available not just here in the UK, but throughout the world," he said.

Professional services firms are well known for employing large numbers of university-leavers in graduate schemes. Between them, two of the country's biggest firms Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers will fill 2,200 graduate vacancies in 2011.
