Graduate opportunities could be made as mid-cap businesses expect growth

Published: Friday, 31 December 2010   Category: Business Management

Most medium-sized businesses are confident they will be increasing their turnover next year and are receiving finance when looking for it.

Mid-cap businesses are looking forward to a successful new year; 58 per cent expect their turnover to rise, which could in turn lead to more graduate opportunities in these companies, according to a Department for Business survey.

A mid-cap business is larger than a small or medium-sized business (SME) and is defined as having an annual turnover of between £25 million and £500 million.

The net balance of sales growth rose from -25 in 2009, to +31 in 2010. This, the Department for Business said, "indicates a greater number of businesses are now growing."

With growth comes jobs and graduate opportunities, with many expanding companies offering graduate schemes to give their workforce a boost.

This news comes just days after Recruitment and Employment Confederation's latest Jobs Outlook survey suggested that one quarter of private companies were looking to expand their workforce in 2011, while only five per cent are intending on cutting it.
