Graduate jobs set as part of TK Maxx expansion
Friday, 12 June 2009
Leading global retail chain TK Maxx has unveiled plans to expand across Europe, which will include the creation of graduate jobs within its UK operation.
The retailer, which already has 225 shops in the UK, is to open a further ten outlets by the end of 2009.
It claims there is potential for a total of 275 stores within UK shores and it is planning to take advantage of the weak property market to acquire retail space in the future.
Some 175 jobs are to be created at TK Maxx's distribution facilities in Wakefield, Stoke and Walsall.
Paul Sweetenham, vice-president of TK Maxx parent company TJX Europe, said the European group has seen "significant growth in the last two years".
He added: "We are outperforming our expectations - even in today's challenging retail environment."
Insurance firm Hastings Direct has announced it is to open three pilot high street stores as part of an expansion plan that will create 150 positions, which could include graduate jobs.
