Life after graduation
Unemployed graduate job hunters will receive some help in the form of over 200 positions being created in the south of England thanks to a government grant.
West Sussex County Council has secured £1.3 million subsidies from the Future Jobs Fund, which will go towards 212 employment opportunities for graduates who have been receiving Jobseeker's Allowance for 12 months or more.
According to the Portsmouth News, the graduate jobs will be created between January 2010 and March 2011 and will help both university leavers and businesses looking for fresh talent to cope with the economic upturn.
Henry Smith, leader of the county council, told the newspaper: "Many organisations have worked together on this project, which will see new opportunities for young people - especially useful in the current climate when young people aren't able to find jobs when leaving education."
The Confederation of British Industry recently told Personnel Today that it wants to see chancellor Alistair Darling announce plans to improve the current situation regarding graduate jobs in his upcoming pre-Budget report.
