Graduate jobs market 'improving all the time'

Published: Wednesday, 01 December 2010   Category: All Graduate job news

Graduate opportunities are far better now than they were a couple of years ago, it was suggested on Monday (November 29th).

Research published this week by XpertHR indicated that demand for graduates has declined slightly this year, but that employers are optimistic about future hiring trends.

Responding to the findings, Charlie Ball, deputy research director at the Higher Education Careers Services Unit (HECSU), explained that pay prospects for graduates are also set to improve as the economic recovery continues.

"Information that we're getting from people is that career prospects for graduates have improved over the last 12 months," he said.

"It looks as if last year - the winter of 2009-10 - was probably the worst it is going to get for graduates for a little while. Things are on the up again."

However, Mr Ball also sounded a note of caution by claiming that it could take some time before the graduate jobs market returns to the levels experienced in 2006-07.

The HECSU is a charity which aims to inform graduates about research and development in career-related learning and career guidance in higher education.
