Graduate job hunters hoping for success in the legal sector will have to ramp up their employment efforts as recruiters step up requirements.
Next year is set to see applications for graduate law jobs rise, according to The Lawyer, and employers are reacting by making sure they filter through only the best candidates.
One unnamed graduate recruitment partner at a 'top 15' firm told the news provider that some of the weaker candidates did not even bother to apply this year due to competition.
"It's a bit like a pressure cooker at the moment, and next year we're going to see application numbers shoot up with the big backlog of students who've decided to delay their applications," they added.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, recently said that candidates will have to make sure they know what employers are looking for if they are to stand out from the competition.
