International professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is set to recruit up to 1,000 university-leavers for graduate jobs during 2009, it has been reported.
According to the Times, careers opportunities exist in more than a dozen areas of the firm despite the economic slowdown.
Entry-level roles exist in areas such as assurance, strategy consulting, business recovery, tax and economics consulting, the news provider states.
With the Times naming PwC as its top graduate employer for 2008, competition for roles at the firm is likely to be intense.
In normal circumstances, around ten to fifteen applications per graduate vacancy can be expected in the banking and finance sector, but the newspaper claims that the economic downturn may heighten demand for the roles that are available.
PwC employs 16,000 employees across the UK, although overseas working roles may also be available in one of the 150 countries where the firm has a presence.
