Graduate jobs a possibility for long-term unemployed

Published: Wednesday, 06 April 2011   Category: All Graduate job news

Candidates out of work and struggling to find graduate jobs have been given a boost by claims that employers are becoming more positive towards the long-term unemployed.

According to Informa HR director Emma Blaney, company attitudes have improved towards recruits that have been out of work for a year or more.

Speaking to People Management, she explained that this is because employers appreciate the need to make their searches for people "with the right attitude" as wide as possible in the current climate.

She said: "There's an acknowledgement that it's been difficult to get a job in the last two years because we ourselves have seen talented people go.

"So we know that there are talented people we would want to employ."

Her comments came shortly after Peter Panayotou, senior consultant at CV advisory firm The Write Stuff, claimed that more candidates are using professional recruitment services to get ahead during the economic downturn.
