Former students in Northern Ireland may see their graduate job prospects boosted by the news that Poundland is to create 140 positions in the country.
New branches of the store, which sells all of its goods for £1, are set to be opened in Bangor, Dungannon, Newry and Enniskillen, while positions are also to materialise in Ballymena and Londonderry.
Among the vacancies that will be up for grabs are store managers, general assistants and warehouse operatives, with plans in existence to open 20 new stores by the end of 2010.
Tim McDonnell, retail operations director at Poundland, says: "Poundland has been a huge success in Northern Ireland.
"In fact, it is forecast to be our most successful region in the UK. We are looking to recruit people with the right skills to help us with our expansion."
The news comes despite the discount store only opening its first store in Northern Ireland last year in Belfast.
Poundland also enjoyed a good Christmas, with Jim McCarthy, the company's chief executive, previously telling Reuters that festival spending increased by 4.4 per cent last year in comparison with 2008.
