Graduate internships in Yorkshire
Wednesday, 02 September 2009
University leavers in the north of England may be able to gain valuable work experience through a new graduate internships set up by Graduates Yorkshire.
The Internship Programme, funded by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, aims to provide paid work placements for graduates with businesses in the region in order to give them extra skills to put on a CV and increase their employability.
It also aims to make graduates more employable by offering paid work experience, coaching and mentoring.
Martin Edmondson, chief executive of Graduates Yorkshire, said: "Many companies take advantage of students by offering unpaid work experience or intern positions. Not everyone has the ability to work for up to a year without being paid."
University leavers in the East Midlands region may be pleased to know that local authorities are teaming up with Hot Prospects to help degree-holders find graduate jobs, Chad.co.uk recently reported.
