Graduate helps north-east firm with 'fresh ideas'

Published: Monday, 17 August 2009   Category: Employer News

A pharmaceuticals company in the north-east has seen its graduate recruitment drive help it to increase the results its workforce can achieve.

SCM Pharma, based in Prudhoe, recruited Northumbria University graduate Michael Johnson, who will now apply the skills he gained during his degree course by joining the firm's microbiology team, according to bdaily.

The company has just signed some new contracts and it is thought that 24-year-old Mr Johnson, who has a degree in applied biology, will help it complete them.

Shirley Dann, managing director of SCM Pharma, told the news provider: "As we continue to grow the company, we feel it is essential to have a good mix of skills within the business. Our bright new graduate will hopefully bring some fresh ideas."

Nebusiness.co.uk recently reported that former graduate Simon Brown at Business Link said employers should look towards training schemes to add fresh talent to their team as well as improve the productivity of existing staff.
