Graduate entrepreneurs invited to enter awards

Graduates from the last three years who have set up their own businesses have been offered the chance to mix with potential investors at a new competition which recognises their talent.
The University of Hertfordshire has set up the Recent Graduate award at the Federation of Small Businesses Hertfordshire Small Business Awards 2009, which will honour the most talented entrepreneur in the area.
Ruth Herman, principal lecturer of marketing in the Business School at the university, said that the ceremony will allow graduates to mingle with important entrepreneurs and possible investors, according to Hertfordshire.com
Ms Herman told the news provider: "The university is proud to sponsor such an award and recognises the importance of supporting recent graduates especially during the economic downturn."
Andrew Burke, director of graduate programmes at Cranfield School of Management, recently told the Times that he predicts graduates will be starting their own businesses in unprecedented numbers during the recession.
