Graduate engineer jobs may open in Wales

Graduate engineer jobs may be opening in North Wales after a leading manufacturing company announced it is to expand its workforce in the area.

Sharp Corporation is to create 300 jobs in its Wrexham plant, pushing its workforce in the factory to around 1,100.

The plant is to double its capacity from 250 to 500 megawatts per year in the next few months. This is enough energy to power all of the houses in a city the size of Leeds.

Andrew Lee, head of international sales for Sharp, said that the company is investing in the United Kingdom due to an interest in green technology in the country.

"This job creation proves that there is an appetite for solar technology in the UK and that this sector has huge growth potential, bucking the trend in the wider economy," he said.

Last year, the UK government announced the Green Deal: a plan to create a quarter of a million jobs in energy-efficient industry before 2030.
