Graduate employers warned of HR exodus

Employers in the HR sector may see university talent move elsewhere if they close their doors on graduate job hunters, it has been said.
According to the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR), former students with HR degrees will have a wide range of talents which can be applied to other professions if jobs are not available.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the AGR, told Personnel Today: "If you have a broad range of training and the profession doesn't provide enough stimulus and opportunities, then people will go on to do other things."
PricewaterhouseCoopers added that if graduate jobs in the HR sector are not being provided, university leavers should look to gain experience in a commercial or business environment to improve their employability.
The firm is looking to offer a HR graduate scheme next summer to help those who have been affected by the lack of positions available during the recession.
