Grad jobs news: Employee holidays 'are vital'

Life after graduation
Holidays are vital in order for employees to recharge their batteries and return to work refreshed. It has been suggested.
Gill Trevelyan, head of good practice services at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas), says this benefits businesses as rested, healthy employees are "more productive".
She comments that some firms and organisations allow workers who fall ill during their holidays to take this period as sick absence and reclaim the holiday time they have used.
Ms Trevelyan says this means that the "recuperative benefits" of holidays are not lost potentially benefitting those working in graduate jobs and other roles.
According to FirstCare, absence rates across the UK soared to record levels last week, with 12.5 per cent of the UK working population absent from work.
The high levels can be attributed to a number of factors, including an increase in coughs and colds, the effects of the Norovirus, poor weather and a slow start to the new year after a long Christmas break.
