Government launches graduate jobs guide
Tuesday, 26 May 2009
An online guide to help those leaving university this summer aware of the graduate job opportunities that are available to them has been released by the government.
Supported by the National Union of Students (NUS), the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills guide will also be sent to all graduates over the next few weeks.
Included in the advice is information regarding finding a graduate job in the UK, working abroad, schemes and internships as well as teaching opportunities under the independent Teach First programme.
Aaron Porter, vice-president for higher education at the NUS, said: "It is more important than ever to ensure that students leaving university are supported and given advice on how to take advantage of the opportunities that are available."
John Denham, the skills secretary, recently called for more employers to offer internships to help university leavers gain vital work experience and more easily find a graduate job.
