Wednesday, 14 October 2009
Nearly 4,000 graduate job hunters will have descended on the Scottish city of Glasgow today (October 14th) as employers try to find fresh talent in preparation for the economic upturn.
While some employers have cut the opportunities available to university leavers due to the recession, 80 major firms have spent today trying to win back their trust at the 20th Scottish Graduate Fair.
According to the Evening Times, as well as graduate job positions, degree-holders looking to boost their skills will also be able to liaise with postgraduate course providers about further study placements.
Barbara Graham, director of the University of Strathclyde Careers Service, told the newspaper: "Despite the economic conditions, employers are looking ahead and need to recruit talented staff as they prepare for the upturn as we come out of the recession.
The Association for Graduate Recruiters recently told the Independent that employers are giving positive indications that they are actively seeking candidates with technical degrees for next year.
