FT: Top 50 UK workplaces

Published: Friday, 30 May 2008   Category: Career Advice

The Financial Times has announced its top 50 UK workplaces 2008, compiled by the Great Place to Work Institute.

IT graduates and university students will be interested to learn that US-based search engine giant Google has come out on top, closely followed by the Structure Group in second and Asthma UK in third place.

Impact, Novo Nordisk and Beaverbrooks the Jewellers occupied positions four to six in the chart, with Acedemee, Fishburn Hedges, Yell and the Admiral Group completing the top ten.

Participants in the study, which has been conducted since 2003, are evaluated by combining results from a trust index, an employee survey, and a management survey.

Meanwhile, Google also came second in a parallel FT poll of the top ten workplaces in Europe, losing out only to fellow IT firm Microsoft.

Microsoft has recently been involved in talks with search engine provider Yahoo, the main rival of Google, with regards a potential take-over.
